“It’s always tea time” – The Madhatter.
I am one of those tea fanatics. I have not always been a massive fan of tea but for the past 6 years I became obsessed with it. I have a drawer in my kitchen filled with all kinds of tea to help me get by during my day, and as I mentioned in a previous blogpost I noticed that there are certain kinds of tea, which help me reduce my anxiety on a bad day.
In reality, I believe that all types of tea provide us with some form of relaxation since every person is different, so one tea which might be calming for me, might not have the same effect on another person.
Below, I have listed my top favourite teas which help reduce my anxiety.
1. Chamomile Tea
This is by far the most famous tea that people use to destress. It promotes relaxation, and so many people often take a cup of chamomile before sleeping. I mainly recommend drinking this tea in the evening when you are certain that you will remain at home since it can cause drowsiness.
2. Lemon Balm Tea
I would recommend Lemon Balm because it provides you with the same level of comfort as chamomile; however, it does not cause any drowsiness. This tea can reduce inflammation in the body, lower anxiety, elevate your mood and can even treat Alzheimer’s disease. Apart from all of this, it tastes and smells delicious.
3. Ginseng Tea
I always suggest Ginseng because it contains so many properties which are beneficial to the body. This tea helps boost your energy and helps increase circulation around the body. For a specific type of Ginseng I would suggest the Siberian tea since it is known to help the body cope with the effects of stress and anxiety.
4. Rose Tea
This tea has got numerous benefits, which include, reducing menstrual pain, improving the immune and the digestion system, improves the skin, reduces anxiety and many more. Rose tea helps calm the mind and so it is often taken before one goes to bed.
5. Green Tea
I usually take green tea every morning because it contains quite a bit of caffeine and so it keeps me be alert, yet calm. My favourite green tea is a blend with cranberry. I find that this tea helps me feel relaxed and I always look forward to having a cup of tea and watching a series.
6. Peppermint Tea
I always enjoy a nice cup of peppermint tea, especially during the winter season. This tea contains so many benefits. It helps you concentrate, sleep better, reduce weight, soothe any stomach pain, reduces anxiety and many more.
I hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to comment below to tell me what your favourite tea is.
Bonus: Passion Flower Tea
I did not include this in my list above because I do not take this tea often due to the side effects and I feel that I receive the same results with the other teas that I mentioned above; however, I had to add it in this post since it is a very popular tea to reduce stress and anxiety. This tea is not recommended for pregnant or lactating mothers and for children. I only recommend this tea to be taken under supervision of a doctor and not for a long period of time.
