One of my favourite things to do is read a good book. I do not really have a favourite genre, since I pretty much read any book which I find interesting; however, I do have phases where I feel like reading one kind of book more than the other.
In this post, I shall be listing my top 5 books. I understand that reading is not something that everybody likes and maybe it does not help you to relax but I decided to write this blogpost because I find reading very helpful especially when I feel anxious.
1. Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
This is my all time favourite book, I guess partly because it reminds me of myself. It is about a girl who suffers from anxiety and finds it difficult to leave the house. She always wears sunglasses even in her own home. This is the part that reminded me of myself because I hate talking to people without sunglasses on, due to eye contact. Eventually, her brothers friend comes over and he slowly starts to help her get out of her shell. I will leave the rest for you guys to find out!
2. One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus
This is one of those books where you start reading and you are instantly hooked. It is about five students who end up in detention, but only four end up leaving detention alive. The student who was murdered, was the school journalist who believed to have some juicy gossip about the other four students who were with him in detention. Long story short, the four students are being suspected for murder. Definitely worth the read!
3. The Bones of You by Debbie Howells
I love those books with a twist; where you think you know who the killer is, but you were completely wrong. This book is about a girl who disappears and nobody would have thought that it would happen to her, because she was kind and had a loving family. One friend in particular notices a lot of missing information in this case and so she takes it in her own hands to solve the mystery about this girl, named Rosie.
4. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
I know there are a lot of mixed feelings regarding this book but I had read this book way before the series came out. I personally found this book really interesting because it truly gives you an insight on how bullying and basically being mean can have an affect on other people. I definitely do not encourage anybody to read this if they are going through a tough time and if they feel they cannot handle this book at this present time. For those who do not know, this book is about a girl who sends 13 cassette tapes to 13 people explaining why they are the reason she decided to end her life. I found this book to be quite addicting since I wanted to find out who she gave them to and what they did to her.
5. Heartless by Marissa Meyer
I love the story of Alice in Wonderland so when I saw this book I just had to buy it. This book is about the queen of hearts, as a young girl. It gives you an insight on how she was not always evil. She simply wanted to open a bakery and fall in love but then something happened and changed her into the person that we know today.
I really hope you enjoyed this blogpost. If reading is something that helps you relax, I truly encourage you to find just an hour to yourself and grab a book. Feel free to comment below and tell me what your favourite book. I always love adding more books to my collection ! Happy reading !
